First thing you should do is check all of your windows and doors for cracks or holes around the trim and make sure you have proper weather stripping installed. As your checking windows with screens, be sure and repair any rips or holes to keep the mosquitoes outside. Mosquitoes are actually horrible at flying so run the air conditioner when possible. Strategically placed oscillating fans will keep the air moving and that makes it hard for mosquitoes to fly and almost impossible for them to land.
Having accessible water sources around your home will draw in mosquitoes. They lay their eggs in standing or slow moving water. Once a week you should walk the perimeter of your home and cover, throw away or empty out anything that can hold water, like old tires, pots with no drain holes, toys, or pools. Be sure to clean out rain gutters and keep an eye on any bird baths or water fountains. While some scents repel Mosquitoes others attract them so avoid body scents when possible and wear light clothing. Small things we do can make a big difference when we are consistent in our actions.
